La Roca - A Horseman Totem 01
The name 'La Roca', as with most of my work, was something which came to mind as I was working on it. 'La Roca' means 'The Rock' in Spanish although please correct. I didn't know this when I named it but found out later. The relevance of 'La Roca' may become apparent later in the Black Quartz Universe.
This Totem includes a neon plastic rabbit with golden wings at the head, flowers, animals,skulls, jewels and the floating gold head - all standing proud on a base of The Little Elephant
From a series of artwork in a series inspired by Totem Poles using photographs to ‘carve’ symbolic stories for the tribes and people of Black Quartz. The blue backgrounds came about from a trip to Italy where I saw images in churches and grand houses with religious imagery set against this-style plain blue/green base.
They also form part of the work for BQ-01 ‘A Horseman’ which is in progress and follows on from BQ-00 ‘Wire Rink’. More images are being worked on in this series. Supplied as a high quality unframed Giclee Print. Dimensions are 594 x 841mm (A1).
